By far, the best podcast ever now turns into an app. I love it! I know Mr. Duning didnt mean to, but he has changed skepticism from annoying to very very interesting. Way to go!!!

Im an avid skeptoid and while the application is good it still has some untapped potential. First of all are the load times, theyre inconsistant between 3G and WiFi. Its seems like the application and the episodes you load load faster through 3G than when connected to a WiFi network. Some of this lag could remedied through caching the episode list "in app." Secondly in a future release it would be nice to see some sort of corresponding blog post. Lastly it would be nice to see support added for a push notice for when new content (episodes or what not) are added to the app. Just a few suggestions to make this app even better!
I agree, load times for episodes are far too long. Loading requires 3 different "push to play" attempts. Why is QuickTime the default platform for listening to audio? There must be a quicker method. Please look into better delivery methods. Also, a search feature would be helpful.
Great way to get episodes and see the catalogue. Would love to see website content make its way in to the app. Hope to see improvements and updates in the future!
This app must have been updated since the previous posts, because I have none of the same complaints. It works very well and is MUCH easier and faster than me trying to figure out which episode Im trying to listen to on the iPhones iTunes store. This is a big deal to me because I am re-listening to episodes all the time while I drive and you cant read the titles on the iphones iTunes store. Right now its mainly a basic quick-loading episode player...I look forward to what things Brian might add to it in the future. Buy this app and support critical thinking!
Skeptoid is consistently one of my favorite events each week. This app is well built, and allows easy access to all of the wonderful Skeptoid podcasts.
I had a friend introduce me to this program, and was super pleased to find an app for my iPhone. Great topics, the podcast always gets me thinking and has cleared up a several things that I knew wrong info about.
Every time I start up the app, it goes through the start screen, then I get to the list of shows, then it just disappears leaving me looking at the home screen. The only sign of it is in the background-task view, which I activate and then POOF! it diappears again.
It is a handy app to listen to new and past episodes of Skeptoid. Works well with iPhone 4S.
This is the only app I have never actually paid for! And it is worth much more than the $1.99 price! Brian Dunnings podcast is usually under 10 minutes, and I learned something new almost every week. Is podcast has now been translated into Mandarin Chinese, tripling his audience! So be sure and spread the word to your Chinese friends and family as well.
Worth $1.99 an episode. Would pay for the app every week!
The podcast is awesome and this app is a great way to hear it, and a great way to support the man brain behind it all. Oh, and I have it on good authority that $.50 of every purchase goes to fund the Lizardman takeover.
One of my favorite podcasts is now even easier for me to enjoy with the Skeptoid app. Im now able to search through years of past podcasts, mark favorite episodes, and easily share episodes with friends. I love the podcast and the app!
This app is the best way to listen to Skeptoid and I would pay .99 cents every week to have this amazing app. I highly recommend it.
Skeptoid has become a daily listen for me as the topics covered and analysis of them are both highly entertaining and informational. I have a few concerns with the app itself though. It would be nice to be able to see the full title and information for any episode without having to click on it. Currently there is only a preview of each and this can make choosing one a bit of a chore. I have often used the mobile website view to see episode information then gone back to the app to play it. Im not sure if this is by design to try to drive traffic to the Skeptoid site but it is decidedly inconvenient. I would also like to see the episodes sorted by topic type as also seen on the Skeptoid site (Cryptozoology , Conspiracies, etc). A third suggestion would be to add links within the app to the Skeptoid site, truth hurts TV, Here Be Dragons and so forth. There is so much good Brian Dunning content that the app can help drive users to. Make no mistake I highly recommend this app based on content alone. A steal at the $1.99 price!
Brian approaches every myth and false belief you can imagine and then goes after the myriad of those you never knew existed. He methodically presents each of them for what they really are by presenting the best scientific data available. Get ready to learn some very interesting stuff about your world!
Absolutely worth it.
Most of the "Skeptical" programs I hear are tedious to listen to because the hosts meander through a topic with limited perpetration, other than their own narcissistic, acidic wit. Skeptiod breaks this mold leading the listener down a well reasoned and documented path. Production is clean, and topic formats are tightly organized. If you dont get this you are a (insert favorite ad homonym attack her), you (insert derogatory term here). If my levity was lost on you then I apologize. Download this app, you wont regret it. :-)
Very interesting and very informative. Two thumbs up!!!
Skeptoid is 5 of 5 but the app stinks The episode list cuts off almost all of the episode title so you cant read them without clicking on them 1 by 1. "Skeptoid #391: 8 Secret Bas...." The episode title should be on its own line because right now there are 14 characters before it taking away from title display.
